Temperatures vary in the mountains.  Autumn is truly unequalled.  Peak leaf colors occur in October.

Spring and Summer provide opportunities for hiking, mountain biking and outdoor fun.  The Rhododendron Festival is held in mid-June.  Winter snowfalls call for sleds, tubes, and skiing.  No matter which season you decide to visit, you will enjoy the beauty of the natural surroundings.

The Covered Bridge in Elizabethton was built in 1882 and its celebration is held the 3rd week in June.

Sycamore Shoals State Historic Park houses Fort Watauga, a Visitor Center, museum and films on area history.

The Carter Mansion, the oldest frame house in Tennessee, built in 1780, is located three miles north of Fort Watauga.

Beech Mountain and Sugar Mountain Ski Resorts are located in nearby Banner Elk, North Carolina.

Jonesborough is the oldest town in Tennessee and home to the National StoryTelling Center.

Roan Mountain State Park  is five minutes away.  Stop at the Visitor Center to get a full schedule of programs and trail maps.  The park has a swimming pool, tennis and volleyball courts as well as lovely areas to picnic.

The nearby Appalachian Trail goes through the largest expanse of grass open lands in the Southern Appalachians.

Consider a day trip to Asheville to visit The Biltmore!



Second bathroom is in hallway between Bedrooms 2 & 3 and is easily accessible to all. Bath towels/washcloths provided.

Spend a leisurely morning with a cup of coffee or tea, listening to the birds and the creek or sit in the rocking chairs on the front porch reading a book or gazing at the mountains. Let the hustle and bustle of everyday life slip away as you relax in the swing on the back porch or use the BBQ grill for outdoor dining.

The cabin is delightfully appointed and features carefully chosen decor and attention to detail.
